Coletum uses geographic coordinates in the DD (decimal degree) format to ensure location accuracy. This guide will help you understand and correctly fill in the coordinates in your forms.
How to Fill in the Coordinates
Identify the question to be answered in your form.
Enter the latitude and the longitude.
In the option 'Click to select on the map' you can manually select the location. However, we recommend using exact coordinates for the best accuracy.
Reviewing the Location
After saving the entry, you can view it to confirm that the location is correct. To do this:
Go back to the Forms
In the respective form > Actions > View Entries
Identify the entry > Actions > View

Converting other formats to decimal degrees (DD)
If you have coordinates in another format, such as DMS (degrees, minutes, seconds), follow these steps to convert them to the DD format:
Access a reliable coordinate conversion website, such as Geographic Calculator.
Enter the original format of your coordinates (DMS or another).
Select the output projection as Geographic and the output Datum as SIRGAS2000.
Tip: Always check if the conversion is correct by comparing the location on a map, such as Google Maps.
Copy the results in DD and enter them into the Coletum form.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not reverse latitude and longitude.
Make sure to use the negative sign when necessary.
Avoid adding symbols like ° (degrees) when entering the numbers.
